I tried to make every single render for this challenge unique and interesting. The general theme of the ideas was for someone to look at them and think ‘oooh I see, that’s clever’. Some renders were an exploration of something I hadn’t tried before or a test to see how fast I could execute on an idea.
Despite what the name of the challenge/trend is called I unfortunately did not make these over a consecutive 36 days. They were made within a 3 month period during my studies alongside other assignments. However, each individual render was made on one day from scratch. The only elements I didn’t completely create on my own were any HDRIs that were used or textures from Substance.
All images were rendered with Arnold in Maya 2022
Ascension is an original game and my final project for my university course. Working with a team of 8 others, we tried to create something a little above our skill set. The idea, originally presented by one of the other students, was a narrative driven space game about two sisters who were part of a group of scientists tasked with populating a new planet. However something went wrong for the first ship sent to the planet, which one of the sisters was on board of.
My contributions to the project was general level design work. I was also tasked with creating the two ship levels in the game, including modeling the ship interior and clutter assets and textures. I also helped other students with rigging, modeling, level design and video editing.
Unfortunately due to the students tasked with the programming part of the game, a fully tested final build wasn't made and the task of making something playable was left to other students. The link below is for a download of the result of our hard work, it is very buggy and was the best we could create given the circumstances.
Kitchen Adventure was a project where I and other students were given a 2d platformer kit for Unity and had to create a level on our own using the kit for the character, checkpoints, end game and so on. This mostly just means I had nothing to do with the programming of this level, but i created the level and assets and textures. Originally Kitchen Adventure was going to be about a piece of bread trying to get to a toaster, but issues with getting the slice of bread character to work with the platformer kit, i was planing to save the idea for a game of my own, but I Am Bread was announced a month later so i was too late.
Static is a simple little University project where I had to create video game animations (walk cycle, idle anims, etc.) and a tiny world and theme for the character to walk around in. This theme was basically white noise and a character with a TV for a head walking around inside a TV world.
